Hello! I’m a registered provisional psychologist with experience providing culturally and developmentally informed psychological assessment, intervention, and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults and families. I offer services in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, and I value creating a warm, inclusive, and collaborative space for all clients.
My professional journey has taken me from Brazil to Portugal, Mexico, and now Canada, where I’m completing a PhD in Special Education at the University of Alberta.
I have a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and enjoy getting to know people’s stories, identities, and perspectives. This openness guides how I build relationships and support each client’s unique needs and strengths.
“The most important and beautiful thing in the world is this: that people are not always the same, they are not finished — they are always changing. They become more in tune, or out of tune — that is the greater truth. That’s what life has taught me. And that brings me so much joy.” — João Guimarães Rosa, author

Hi! I’m Jessica, a Registered Provisional Psychologist here at Balance Psychological Services. Let’s face it, asking for help and prioritizing your mental health is really hard. Speaking from experience, I know that facing the difficult aspects of your life is scary and that it is much easier to stay in the same patterns that have kept you afloat. But if you find those patterns aren’t working for you anymore, it can be worth it to take that leap and reach out - and I’d love to take that step with you! I often work with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and those dealing with anxiety/depression, personality disorders (specifically borderline personality disorder), relationship issues, and complex trauma. I enjoy working with teens (13+) adults, and couples.
I operate from a person-centred lens, which means I believe that you are the expert on your own life. You’re steering the ship in our sessions, and I’m there to support you by offering a compassionate, down-to-earth, and candid style of therapy (laughter also guaranteed).
I love connecting with people from all walks of life and cultures. I believe in accepting people for who they are in the moment they sit down in our space. We are all different and I’m here to help you meet the therapy goals to best fit your lifestyle.

I have had the privilege to work alongside individuals from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds providing guidance and conflict resolution for a number of years. Additionally, I have also had the opportunity to deliver therapeutic support and guidance to high-risk youth and adolescents within a school environment through my multiple years with the Edmonton Catholic School District.
My therapeutic approach emphasizes a collaborative client-centered and culturally sensitive focus with the aim of establishing a safe and non-judgmental space that encourages exploration and growth. Through empathy, compassion, and support, I aspire to help empower clients to achieve their unique goals related to counselling by identifying their unique strengths. I blend techniques rooted in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT).
I welcome children ages 7+, adolescents, adults and couples creating a space to explore: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Oppositional defiance disorder (OOD), anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, relational difficulties, conflict resolution, men’s health, stress, and trauma.
When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, as well as watching sports. When there isn’t a game or fight to watch, I enjoy staying active outside playing basketball, baseball, and golf.

Welcome! If this is your first time pursuing therapy, I want to congratulate you in making the initial (and sometimes scariest) step toward starting therapy: finding a therapist!
A little about me: I have moved almost twenty times in thirty years, I am an English nerd and passionate about reading and learning from others’ stories, I have a four-year-old Great Dane named Ozzy, I enjoy spending time at the dog park, increasing my strength in the gym, trying my hand at a new recipe, and cracking bad jokes.
I am passionate about supporting Veterans, active CAF members, and First Responders. As part of a military family (spouse, sibling), I have an in-depth understanding of the specific culture, mentality, workplace-expectations, and higher probability of risks, illnesses, and disorders associated with these industries (e.g., OSI, PTSD, anger, family/marital strains, depression, anxiety, burnout). Additionally, I am interested in working with both adolescents (ages 14+) and adults experiencing grief, loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, emotional regulation, and existential issues. I enjoy helping clients make sense of their experiences, and find meaning, value, and understanding along the way. Rooted in a client-centred approach, I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental, and, at times, humorous environment to facilitate optimal growth for my clients.
As a Provisional Psychologist, I offer evidence-based, therapeutic practices and modalities that aim to lessen suffering and increase positive health and well-being. I have training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and I bring a Trauma-informed approach to all my sessions. I believe in empowerment - every individual has the strength and potential to enact powerful change, I am simply shining a light on all the strengths and skills you already possess and can use to overcome life’s challenges.
My rate is $220/session, but I also offer a sliding scale between $140-$220. I am available for counselling sessions at three of Balance’s locations (downtown Edmonton, Stony Plain, and Beaumont).
Welcome! If this is your first time pursuing therapy, I want to congratulate you in making the in...

Hello! My name is Jenna Marchand, and I am a mental health therapist with a deep commitment to supporting individuals and families through their unique challenges. I grew up in the small town of Bonnyville, Alberta, where my interest in psychology and counselling began at a young age. I first became involved in the field while providing respite care for family members with children diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities. This early experience sparked my passion for helping others and guided my educational and professional path.
I hold a specialization in psychology from the University of Alberta, followed by a Master’s in Counselling, which has further honed my ability to support individuals across the lifespan. Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and families, particularly those navigating developmental disabilities and trauma.
I specialize in providing behavioural interventions, offering support in a wide range of areas, including emotional regulation, attachment issues, and trauma-informed care. My approach is rooted in client-informed care, and I work from a trauma-informed, attachment-based perspective to ensure that my clients feel safe, supported, and understood.
Over the past four years, I have had the privilege of working with children and adolescents with complex behaviours within both Children Services and the Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program. My goal is to create a therapeutic environment where clients can explore their experiences, build resilience, and work through challenges with a sense of empowerment.
If you’re seeking support for yourself or your family, whether it’s navigating trauma, behavioural challenges, or emotional difficulties, I’m here to help. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and I am committed to working together to create a path forward that aligns with your needs and goals. Feel free to reach out to schedule a free consultation and see if we are a good fit for your journey.

I am a counselling intern currently completing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology at City University of Seattle. At the core of my work is a strong commitment to providing a space where you feel safe, respected, and genuinely heard. I recognize that starting therapy can be a difficult step, and that the process may bring both challenges and growth. My goal is to walk alongside you in a supportive, collaborative way as we explore what matters most to you and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working as a legal assistant with lawyers and other professionals navigating high-pressure environments. That experience has helped me understand the stresses of demanding careers and the importance of boundaries, balance, and emotional wellbeing. I have also volunteered on crisis lines supporting individuals impacted by sexual violence, which has strengthened my trauma-informed perspective and my belief in the healing power of connection and support.
My approach to counselling is flexible and rooted in evidence-based care. I am influenced by a range of approaches—including DBT, ACT, CBT, Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy—depending on what best supports each person’s unique needs and goals. I aim to meet clients with warmth, openness, and curiosity, always honouring their lived experience.
I am especially passionate about working with people navigating grief, trauma, relationship challenges, work-life stress, or those simply seeking to better understand themselves. It is a privilege to hold space for others as they reconnect with their values, reclaim their stories, and move toward greater clarity and resilience.

If I had to describe myself in 3 words, it would be: compassionate, introverted and someone who is curiously exploring the stories behind the faces. I moved to Canada 11 years ago, where I was met with utmost kindness from my school counsellor which I will forever be indebted to. The mere idea of some stranger making space for me in a place 7 seas away from home makes me feel warm and fuzzy till date. It also made me realize how important and effective someone who can hold space for others is.
As I embark on the journey of helping others and advocating for mental health improvements, I hope we cross paths and I am given the privilege to hold space for you someday. I practice with a mix of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT/SFBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Narrative Therapy. I believe the foundation of effective therapy lies in genuine connection. My commitment is to bring my authentic self to each session, meeting clients with the courageous kindness required to truly accept and explore their own authentic experiences. Recognizing the diverse paths we all walk, my approach is deeply rooted in a trauma-informed perspective, with empathy woven into every step of our journey together.
When I take off the counselling hat, you can find me playing guitar, reading or playing around with tarot cards. I am the girl who will tell you if mercury is in retrograde!

I work with adolescents (14+), adults, and members of the LGBTQ+ community, supporting clients through a wide range of challenges including emotional regulation, anxiety, identity exploration, and interpersonal relationship difficulties. My approach is trauma-informed and grounded in attachment theory. I draw from emotionally focused therapy (EFT), somatic practices, and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) to meet each person where they are and support meaningful, sustainable growth.
My goal as a counsellor is to provide a supportive and gently challenging space where clients feel safe to explore, heal, and connect more deeply with themselves and others. I believe that healing begins within a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship and that everyone has the capacity to thrive with the right support.
Outside of the counselling room, I’m an animal mom of three, a plant lover, and an art enthusiast. You’ll often find me in the mountains, tending to my plants, or reading a good book on the deck.

My journey into mental health began in my adolescence, as I struggled with depression and anxiety but was unable to comprehend nor define what was happening to me. I felt alone and at a loss, but with therapy I was able to regain a sense of self and control in my life, as well as experience hope and joy again.
From a person-centered and culturally sensitive perspective, I present my genuine self to the therapeutic relationship wholeheartedly. I am currently working towards becoming a Registered Psychologist, but with over a decade of experience as a healthcare Social Worker at an inner-city hospital, I have collaborated closely with high-risk populations, supporting individuals who face complex issues in both their physical and mental health. I have direct experience working in trauma, domestic violence, life transitions, relationship issues, as well as with anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders.
My holistic approach to therapy creates a compassionate, safe, and non-judgmental environment to explore and work through the issues that matter to you most. I bring a sense of authenticity and deep respect to the therapeutic space by integrating evidence-based techniques with a client-centered approach, where interventions are tailored to meet the unique needs of each person. I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Trauma Informed Care.
With a strong emphasis on attachment injuries and recovery, I feel honored to walk alongside clients’ difficult transitions and help them cultivate new coping skills to become the best versions of themselves. My commitment to fostering emotional growth is grounded in the belief that everyone has the capacity to heal and thrive, and I strive to empower each person on their journey towards creating lasting and meaningful change.
Outside of the office, you will find me in the sunshine and fresh air, engaged in some sort of physical activity from running to yoga, at the park with my dog Henry, eating my way through Edmonton’s food scene, and spending quality time with loved ones.
